Getting Started

Getting Started

  1. Download the Bivy app and create an account if you haven’t already.
  2. Turn on the Bivy Stick MESH device.
  3. Connect the Bivy app to the device via Bluetooth within the app as before with original Bivy Stick.  The Mesh device has a new design with super capacitors that provides a steady and efficient power source.  If the device has been off for awhile, it may take up to 20 seconds for the super capacitors to charge up when it’s first powered on.  Bluetooth connection and satellite transmission will not occur until it’s charged up.
  4. Go to the Settings screen on the Bivy app by clicking the gear in the upper right corner of the Stick.
  5. Click Enable Mesh to turn Mesh capabilities on.  Keep it off when you're not using it for long periods of time, because the battery drains faster.  You can also turn Mesh on and off by clicking the icon in the upper left corner of the app.
  6. Click Enable Mesh Relay to turn on the ability for your device to be used by other devices in the mesh network for intelligent relaying.
  7. Make sure the LoRa® Radio is set to “US_902_928” if you are using the device in the US, or set it to the appropriate territory if not.  Different countries require different frequencies and power levels.
  8. Set your Mesh username.  It will default to your Bivy app username, but you can change it to something else that may be clearer to the other Mesh users near you.  This username is how you will appear in messages and on the map.
